Ramos Roundup Part 20: Pulverized Into Powder

The Ramos roundup is a weekly Philadelphia Sports column highlighting all the pertinent news of the week featuring the Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, Sixers, and Union.

The Eagles fall to the 49ers 42-19

In a clash among NFC heavyweights, the Eagles were brought down to reality on Sunday against San Francisco. Six straight touchdown drives for the 49ers after the first quarter helped humbled Philly, who did not score a touchdown in the first half. In the second half, the birds didn’t fare much better.

That’s as far as we’ll go with that. Philly outplayed, outschemed and outcoached.

Yes, it was the Eagles third game in 14 days. I don’t believe that anything to do with this slaughter. Anytime a team comes into the Linc and drops 40 points on this Eagles team, that garners some respect in my book.

Moving onto Dallas week now.

Flyers Defeat the Penguins in a Shootout 4-3

After a loss against the Devils, the Flyers returned to action Saturday and picked up a win in Pittsburgh. Rookie Tyson Foerster picked a goal and an assist in the win. Foerster, in particular, has really picked up his game offensively, although the details of his game have been good for awhile. Sean Couturier, Scott Laughton, Nick Seeler, Owen Tippett and Cam York all registered points in the win as well.

Philly is now 12-10-2 to start the season. They return to action on Monday and will run it back with Pittsburgh.

Sixers Put up a Fight in Boston, but Slip to Celtics 125-119

With Embiid and Maxey out due to illness, the Sixers will game in a hard-fought contest against the Celtics in Boston. Pat Beverly led the way with 26 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, while De’Anthony Melton added 21 points. Marcus Morris, Robert Covington and Mo Bamba also contributed as well.

The Sixers are now 12-7 and will take on the floundering Wizards up next on Wednesday.
