Phillies Drop Disappointing Series to Guardians
The Phillies only mustered up six hits to drop a disappointing homestand with a 3-1 loss to the Cleveland Guardians on Sunday. According to Jim Salisbury, the Phils hit just .172 as a team during their six game homestand.
Most notably, Trea Turner and Adolis Garcia have struggled mightily of late. After a banner season last year, Turner is only hitting .225 this season. Garcia, on the other hand, has just one hit in his last 38 plate appearances. Both players will need to break out of their slumps soon if the Phillies are to pull themselves above .500.
The Phils head to California to take on the Padres on Monday. First pitch is 6:40 p.m. Eastern time.
Despite IIoski’s Best, Union Fall to Inter Miami 6-4
On Sunday, the Union dropped a 6-4 decision to Inter Miami CF, completing a nightmare of a first half of the season.
Philadelphia scored the first and second goal to open the match, as forward Milan Iloski found the back of the net in the fourth and 10th minute. Then, Miami responded quickly with a goal in the 13th minute before forward Bruno Damiani scored his first goal of the season in the 20th minute, giving the Union a two-goal advantage.
Time and time again, Miami found the back of the net when they needed to and in the 81st minute, gave Inter the lead. They added another goal in stoppage time to secure the 6-4 result.
Following a two-month break for the FIFA World Cup, the Union will return to Subaru Park on July 22nd where they will host New York Red Bulls. The match will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will broadcast on Apple TV.
