Ramos Roundup Part One: The Philly Sports Trade War

Ramos roundup is a weekly Philadelphia Sports column highlighting all the pertinent news of the week featuring the Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, Sixers, and Union.

The Sixers are Exploring the Tobias Harris Trade Market

According to the Inquirer’s Keith Pompey, the Sixers have been testing the trade waters with forward Tobias Harris and the rumored price has been, uh, let’s say expensive to be blunt.

Although they still may find a suitor later in the summer, I wouldn’t expect the Sixers to move Harris at this point. Not when we consider the 30-year-old is owed just under $40 million this season before he hits the open market next summer. He’s objectively a good player, but is woefully overpaid for what he brings to the table, even if his agent and father believe he could produce more in a more creative scheme.

The Flyers are Exploring the Trade Market for…. Everyone

If new Flyers General Manager Danny Briere were a metal artist, his debut single would be titled “Trade ‘Em All.” News broke on Saturday from Anthony SanFilippo and Anthony Di Marco that the Flyers may have found new homes for Kevin Hayes, Tony DeAngelo, and Travis Sanheim. As of Sunday, the rumored deal that would’ve sent Hayes and Sanhieim to St. Louis is presumably dead, as defensemen Torrey Krug allegedly would not waive his no-trade clause to come to Philadelphia. DeAngelo, on the other hand, appears to be ticketed for Carolina once again, but as of this writing, that has not taken place yet.

The Phillies are back?

The Phillies have won 15 of their last 20 games and disposed of their arch-rival Mets on Sunday in one of the most bizarre rally’s you’ll see in a baseball game.

A walk, single, walk, a ground ball that should have been a double play that recorded no outs, another walk, strikeout, and finally, a hit batter tied the game at 6 before Trea Turner gets hit by another pitch and forces home the eventual winning run. It’s good to be lucky.

The Union roll in win over Inter Miami

Jakob Glesnes, Julián Carranza, Leon Flach, and David Ruiz each tallied a goal in Philadelphia’s big win over Inter Miami at Subaru Park on Saturday night.
