Ramos Roundup Part 40: Coming to America

The Ramos roundup is a weekly Philadelphia Sports column highlighting all the pertinent news of the week featuring the Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, Sixers, and Union.

Report: Matvei Michkov to Join Flyers?

According to Sport-Express out of Russia, Flyers wunderkind prospect Matvei Michkov may be coming to Philadelphia sooner than expected. The news originally broke from Hockey News Hub on Twitter, a page that exclusively discusses KHL topics and rumors.

Should Michkov come to North America this summer, it’ll be interesting to see how that may alter the Flyers off-season plans. For now, we’ll exercise some cautious optimism regarding the possibility that Michkov could be playing in Philly this coming season. Expect the Flyers to stay mum on any of these negotiations between Michkov and his KHL team SKA until they know for sure that the player will be heading to Philly.

Union Pick Up Valuable Road Win in New England

The Union got themselves a much needed win on Saturday with a 3-0 clean sheet against the Revolution. Julian Carranza, while Daniel Gazdag added a brace to boot. The boys in blue have had a tale of two seasons to date. The club has managed to play much better on the road, but has faltered at home quite a bit this season. They’ll head out on the road once again next Saturday when they take on Charlotte.

Be sure to check out all of our Union coverage this season on the site.

Phillies Cruise Past Nationals in Sweep

Ho-hum. Another series, another dominant Phillies performance. As of this writing, the Fightins continue to have the best record in baseball (34-14) and continue to mow down inferior competition. One of most positive parts of this season so far is how the club is getting contributions for someone different each night.

Aaron Nola gave up only two hits in seven innings in this game. He’s now 6-2 with a 3.05 earned run average on the season. Alec Bohm (five RBI), Bryson Stott (has reached base safely in 17 straight games) and Nick Castellanos had three hits as well.

Stay hot, boys stay hot.
