Ramos Roundup Part 22: Executive Decisions

The Ramos roundup is a weekly Philadelphia Sports column highlighting all the pertinent news of the week featuring the Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, Sixers, and Union.

Sixers GM Daryl Morey Re-Ups in Philly Through 2028

On Friday, the Sixers announced that General Manager Daryl Morey has re-signed with the organization. Morey, who orchestrated the trade that sent James Harden to the Clippers, deserves full marks for not only executing the aforementioned trade, but also landing pieces that have helped Philly stay in contention. Add in the hire of Nick Nurse and key signings like Kelly Oubre Jr., and Morey has done a pretty nice job navigating a difficult situation. Make no mistake, he’s every bit apart of the Sixers 18-7 start as anyone in the organization.

Union Midfielder Jack McGlynn Named Finalist for Young Male Player Award

On Monday, the Union announced that 20-year-old midfielder Jack McGlynn was named a finalist for the Young Male Player Award. McGlynn picked up two goals and three assists, in addition to a team-high 85.8% passing success rate this season for the Union.

Flyers Shutout the Red Wings 1-0

The Flyers kept up their winning ways on Saturday night, as they blanked the Detroit Red Wings at Wells Fargo Center. Sam Ersson was once again excellent in the win, as the young Swede made 33 saves. Defensemen Cam York tallied the only goal of the contest.

Eagles Make Big Changes Ahead of Match-up with Seahawks

The Eagles are officially in the playoffs, but that didn’t stop the birds from making significant changes heading into Seattle on Monday night. According to Jay Glazer, defensive coordinator Sean Desai will be replaced by Matt Patricia. Desai will remain with the team in different capacity, but Patricia now runs and calls the defense.

After getting torched by the 49ers and Cowboys, something had to give. However, it doesn’t appear that their will be any changes to the offensive side of things which is pretty interesting.

We’ll have to see how it plays out.
