Ramos Roundup Part 12: Turn Two

The Ramos roundup is a weekly Philadelphia Sports column highlighting all the pertinent news of the week featuring the Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, Sixers, and Union.

Phillies Bullpen Steal Game 1 of NLDS in Atlanta

Harper homered, Stott picked up two hits and the Phillies bullpen turned in a masterful performance in the Philly’s 3-0 win in Game 1 of the NLDS on Saturday. Kyle Schwarber and Trea Turner also picked up hits in the win too. Turner, the much-maligned Phillies shortstop, made an excellent diving stop to turn a double play that not only kept the Phillies shutout intact, but also thwarted a potential Braves rally as well.

Subtle reminder: that’s why you go out and grab a talent like Turner when chasing a championship. He’s capable of making plays like this when it matters most. The Phils will return to action on Monday for Game 2 and will look take a stranglehold on the series heading back to Philadelphia. Zach Wheeler will be taking the mound.

Eagles Improve to 5-0 with Win over Rams

Jalen Hurts threw for 303 yards and a touchdown, while AJ Brown hauled in six catches for 127 yards in the Birds big win in Los Angeles on Sunday. It was really a stout performance by the defense in the second half that drove this win for Philly, as the Eagles offense couldn’t find the end zone in quarters three and four. The game Sunday marked the first time all season the Eagles failed to put up 25 points in a game despite totaling 454 total yards offensively.

The most impressive part about this current run? We haven’t seen the Birds play their best and they have found a myriad of ways to win football games. The true sign of a good team and contender.
