The Ramos roundup is a weekly Philadelphia Sports column highlighting all the pertinent news of the week featuring the Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, Sixers, and Union.
Phillies Take 3-of-4 from Padres
Kyle Schwarber knocked in two runs, while Bryson Stott, Brandon Marsh, and Bryce Harper each collected two hits apiece in the Phillies 7-6 win over San Diego on Sunday. Schwarber won the game for the Phils in the 12th inning on a sacrifice fly. The Phillies are just 1/2 game out of the final wild-card spot and just 1 game out of the top wild-card spot.
They’ll return to action Tuesday, as they play host to the Milwaukee Brewers for a three-game set.

Donovan, Union edge New York FC 2-1
A wonderful story came of the Union’s big win over the New York FC on Saturday night.
Chris Donovan scored his first MLS goal, and it ended up being the game winner. Donovan, 22, is a Paoli native and Conestoga High School and Drexel graduate. It was a nice moment for the young player and with the tally, he may have earned himself more minutes with his hometown club.
Report: James Harden “determined” to end up with Clippers
Earlier this week, the Athletic’s Sam Amick reported that James Harden’s desire to find a new team to play for next season “has not changed.”
Good. My desire to not see James Harden in a Sixers uniform has not changed either. I’m ready to drop every breakup line on the guy.
“I think we should see other people, James.”
“It’s not you, it’s me.”
“I think we should still stay friends.”
Whatever it takes to not let this drag into the regular season. This Sixers team can ill-afford a major distraction heading into another year. The worst-case scenario? The Sixers allow the player to hang around and he begrudgingly returns to the lineup next season less motivated than before because the summer didn’t play out his way. It’s great to hold onto an asset for the best return, but if that asset is actively hurting what a new coach in Nick Nurse is trying to implement, then that’s counterintuitive.

Flyers, DeAngelo Bid Adieu with Buyout
The Flyers announced on Friday that they were going to buyout defensemen Tony DeAngelo. After a tumultuous season with his hometown Flyers, DeAngelo bought reasonably good offense, but often porous defense on most nights. That was enough to land him in John Tortorella’s doghouse throughout various times through the season. DeAngelo, 27, has been bought out twice in his career and according to capfriendly, has lost $5.2M in earnings between the two buyouts.
Football is Upon Us
Don’t look now, but the NFC Champion Eagles will return to the NovaCare Complex for training camp on July 25th. The team has already announced the date for this year’s open training camp practice too, set for August 6 at Lincoln Financial Field. So close, yet so far away.
