What we know about new Flyers CEO Daniel Hilferty

In a surprise move, the Flyers and their ownership group Comcast Spectacor announced that they’ve named Daniel Hilferty its new CEO earlier this week. Here’s what we know so far about the new addition.

  • According to Anthony SanFilippo of Crossing Broad, the move isn’t expected to net any significant changes to the hockey operation. Dave Scott will remain the team’s Chairman and the two will work together as partners. You can read his deep dive on the topic here.
  • Hilferty is a graduate of Saint Joe’s University (Class of ‘78) and attended Saint Augustine Prep.
  •     He comes to the Flyers from Independence Blue Cross, where he served as president and chief executive officer.

You can read Hilferty’s statement right here. As for the hockey club, they’ll begin a four-game road trip on Thursday night when they visit the Seattle Kraken. Puckdrop is set for 10:00 p.m. EST. The Flyers are coming off a Super Bowl Sunday loss to this same Seattle team and have lost three of their last four games.
