Road Warriors: Flyers Finish Round-trip on High Note

Carter made 31 saves, while nine Flyers players registered a point to turn a potentially disastrous round-trip into a quality one for Philadelphia. Let’s wrap on the orange and black’s third straight win.

Morgan Frost and Owen Tippett Reigniting Chemistry

At the 1:50 mark of the opening period, defensemen Louie Belpedio found a lane to lug the puck into the Hurricanes zone. Upon entering, the defensemen found Morgan Frost, who then quickly touch-passed the puck over to Tippett for the one-time blast. The goal was Tippett’s sixth of the season and he now has extended his goal streak to three games. According to NHL stats, he matched his NHL career high for longest goal streak, first set from April 9-13 (4-2—6 in 3 GP).

It’s nice to see Frost and Tippett reestablish some of the chemistry the two showed off last season. Both players have experienced ups and downs this season, but their games mesh well together. We’ll see if it will continue.

Foerster Still Struggling to Find First of the Season

In a rebuilding season, I traditionally stand by the belief that the young players a team is trying to develop get as much rope as possible. An opportunity to play through mistakes can be a valuable leaning tool and can really clue in a player as to what it takes to be a nightly contributor in the NHL. In the case of Tyson Foerster, it does feel like the player is pressing right now, as he is still without a goal in 15 games played this season. John Tortorella has given the 21-year-old eminent rope to play through the drought, but it may be time for a bit of reset.

The reason?

Foerster just hasn’t made enough plays when he has the puck. Despite being a break-even puck possession player this season, Foerster has done little to get himself to the spots to utilize his plus shot. The player has done a nice job in competing for lose pucks and even bringing a bit of edge physically, but that isn’t his best quality. The club needs more from him offensively.

Did You Know?

Per NHL stats, Travis Konecny tallied his 22nd game-winning career goal, passing Mike Richards and Murray Craven. He’s now in a tie with Rick Tocchet for 25th place on the Flyers all-time list.

On Deck

The Flyers will host the reigning Stanley Cup Champions on Saturday at the Wells Fargo Center for 1:00 pm puckdop.
