Eagles Receive Super Bowl LIX Championship Rings
On Friday, the Eagles held their ring ceremony to receive their Super Bowl LIX championship rings. They didn’t disappoint either, as the birds’ new jewelry dazzled with it’s design and detail. Not only do the rings have literal wings that open inscribed with Nick Sirianni’s “You can’t be great without the greatness of others” quote, they also open at the top with the scores of each playoff victory. Additionally, the rings have the names and numbers of each player on one side, encrusted in diamonds; the other side has Eagles and Super Bowl LIX written. Finally, the main piece off the rings encapsulate the two championships with two Lombardi Trophy’s on the face of the ring.
The Eagles really knocked these out of the park. Truly, they are fit for champions.

Union Draw in Houston with 1-1
The Union visited the Dynamo FC on Saturday night, drawing 1-1. Veteran midfielder Alejandro Bedoya ended up scoring in the 15th minute, but Houston equalized in first-half stoppage time with a penalty kick. The PK was tallied by none other than former Union Homegrown Jack McGlynn, who celebrated in a rather controversial fashion after the goal. You can see that clipped above by Jose Nuñez.
Later, after a scoreless second half, Philly held on to secure a point on the road. The boys in blue return to Subaru Park to face the Colorado Rapids on Saturday, July 26. The match is set for 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on Apple TV, MLS Season Pass.
Joel Embiid Reveals All in ESPN Interview
On Wednesday, Dotun Akintoye of ESPN dropped a terrific, in-depth on much maligned Sixers star Joel Embiid. Topics ranging from Embiid’s deepest thoughts regarding his late brother and mental health to every detail regarding his extensive injury history and the Sixers response (or lack thereof) to that.
The story is worth a read for every Sixers fan, as access to star athletes like this are few and far between. It’s rare one sees an athlete so candid and Akintoye did a fantastic job laying out all sides of a complex relationship between Embiid and the Sixers.
You can read the full story here. Also, we discussed the topic at length on this week’s Drunk on the Court. You can hear that pod here.

Hockey is not all that far away.
Phillies Drop Series with Angels; Sign David Robertson
The Phillies dropped the series deciding match on Sunday by an 8-2 margin. Ranger Suarez took the ball for the Phillies and needed 100 pitches to get through four and one-third innings. Otto Kemp hit a solo home run in the game, but he also committed a pair of errors in the loss.
The club did however make some waves with a free agent signing after the game.
The club announced they are signing reliever David Robertson. Robertson, now 40, pitched for the Phillies in 2019 before getting hurt, subsequently ending his time with the team. He did return to the organization back in 2022. Most recently, he pitched for the Texas Rangers in 2024.
Robertson is no stranger to high leverage situations late in ball games, but one has to wonder how much he still has left in the tank. Nevertheless, he’s gives the Phillies’ bullpen a needed fresh arm for the stretch drive.
