The Ramos roundup is a weekly Philadelphia sports column highlighting all the pertinent news of the week featuring the Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, Sixers, and Union.
Brewers Sweep Phils
A three-run Brewers seventh inning for the Brewers helped Milwaukee topple the Phillies’ 5-2 on Sunday afternoon at Citizens Bank Park. The frustrating loss completed the sweep for the Brewers and subsequently knocked the Phillies off their perch as the top club in the National League.
J.T. Realmuto and Kyle Schwarber each drove in a run in the loss. The Phils will head to Toronto on Tuesday for a three-game set with the Blue Jays.
Eagles Trade DE Bryce Huff to San Fran
On Friday, news broke that the Eagles will be trading disappointing EDGE rusher Bryce Huff to the 49ers for a mid-round draft pick. According to Eagles’ reporter Anthony DiBona, Philadelphia should now have $27 million in cap space, which will also increase once the trade is officially filed and approved.
Bryce Huff came to the Eagles via trade from the New York Jets, and only could muster up 13 tackles and 2.5 sacks in his time here. Perhaps some of Huff’s were systematic, as the Huff played in a different defensive scheme with New York. In fact, Huff will reunite with 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh, who coached him with the Jets.
Saving money and getting a mid-round draft pick? A tidy piece of business for Howie Roseman again.
Flyers Re-Sign Foerster, Grans
The Flyers took care of their own this past week, as forward Tyson Foerster and prospect Helge Grans to two-year contract extensions. Foerster’s deal is worth an average annual value (AAV) of $3.75 million, while Grans inked a two-year pact worth $787,500. Grans’ deal is a two-way contract the first year and a one-way in 2026-27.
Foerster is coming off a 25-goal campaign this season, which was good for second-most on the team this season. Grans, on the other hand, put up eight goals and 15 assists in 66 games played in the AHL. The young Swede defender also appeared in six games with the Flyers this season, picking up one assist.
Union Battle Dallas to 0-0 Draw
The Union closed out the month of May with a 0-0 draw against FC Dallas on Saturday. Philly Dominated Dallas in shots 23-7 but could not find the back of the net. Andrew Rick picked up the clean sheet in the tie as well.
Moreover, the Union extended their unbeaten run to 11 matches across all competitions. This caps off a demanding month without a loss for the U.
