Stubbs Sparks Phillies in Rout Over Royals
Garett Stubbs went 4-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI in the Phillies huge win over the Royals on Sunday. Stubbs ended up a home run away from the cycle. In fact, the whole offense had the bats going, as the Fightins went 7-for-14 with runners-in-scoring-position as well. On Monday, the Phils will head home to take on the Houston Astros.
Union Cough Up Third Place Game to Colorado
Despite excellence from Tai Baribo throughout the tournament, the Union clashed with the Colorado Rapids in a third-place 2024 Leagues Cup match, drawing 2-2. Colorado opened up the scoring in the 38th minute with a goal from Calvin Harris. The Union leveled the score in the 41st minute when forward Tai Baribo found the back of the net. In the 44th minute, Baribo scored again to gave the Union the lead.
With the goal, Baribo completes his third Leagues Cup brace and recorded his seventh career Leagues Cup goal. In the second half, Oliver Larraz equalized in the 49th minute. Then, the two clubs went to a post-regulation shootout, where the Union ultimately fell short.
