Ramos Roundup Part 38: Exit 76

The Ramos roundup is a weekly Philadelphia Sports column highlighting all the pertinent news of the week featuring the Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, Sixers, and Union.

Sixers Fall to Knicks in Round One

As you’ve heard I’m sure, the Sixers were taken down in six games on Thursday by the Knicks 118-115. It was a frustrating series in general, one that saw the Sixers struggle late in games with fundamentals on things like boxing out on rebounds. I’m not looking to rehash that here, as it’s been talked about to death.

Above all, this is a pivotal off-season for Philly. With a projected $60 Million in cap space and the 16th and 41st (via the Bulls) picks in the draft, this may the Sixers last true opportunity to put a contending team around Joel Embiid. With 2024’s Most Improved Player in Tyrese Maxey in tow, expect names like Kevin Durant, Brandon Ingram and Paul George to pop up throughout the summer.

In the meantime, be sure to check in with Drunk on Court as I’m sure discuss the Sixers off-season plans in more detail as more news becomes available.

Union Salvage Point Against DC United

Thanks to a beautiful strike from Jack McGlynn and captain Ale Bedoya, the Union secured a standings point in our nation’s capital on Saturday. However, it’s been an up and down season so far to say the least.

According to Jimmy King, the boys in blue have yielded the first goal in seven of their last 10 matches. First half’s of games have been a slog, but Philly has managed to come alive in each of their last second halves in furious comeback attempts.

Suffice to say, that hasn’t been enough. The U need three points on Saturday against Orlando and maybe, an opening goal as well.

I’ll be in the pressbox covering for that match on behalf of the site. Be sure to check out all of our Union coverage this season right here.

Harper Homers, Phils Stay Hot With Win Over Giants

Tajuan Walker turned in six inning, while Bryce Harper hit a three-run bomb to give the Phillies yet another win Sunday night. The Fightins have now won nine in a row at Citizens Bank Park, which is the first time they’ve done so since 2010. At 24-11, Philly now has the best record in baseball.
