Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean Highlight Eagles Draft Weekend
The Eagles welcomed their next wave of prospects this past weekend at the NFL Draft. The Birds class being highlighted being two defensive backs in Quinyon Mitchell out of Toledo and Cooper Dejean out of Iowa.
In terms of playstyle, Mitchell is an ideal fit for a Vic Fangio scheme and universally seen as a player that could be a CB1 someday. For Dejean, on the other hand, he’s seen as pretty much a hybrid type of a defensive back that contribute in a variety of ways.
Additionally, the Eagles also selected Jeremiah Trotter Jr. with the 20th pick in the fifth round and in the process, gave many Eagles fans a moment they won’t soon forget. Of course, Trotter was an incredibly popular linebacker for Philly in the 2000s. It was a special moment for the Trotter family and a exciting one for fans to see the Trotter legacy continue in midnight green.
Sixers Pushed to Brink By Brunson, Knicks
Thanks to Jalen Brunson’s history making day and Philly’s fourth quarter ineptitude, the Sixers will have to stave off elimination on Tuesday. Equally important, was the Sixers lack of quality rebounding and in turn, lack of second chance points. Like, look at this below:
Then, to make matters worse, the Sixers received next to no help from their bench. It largely has been Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid doing the heavy lifting. Now, it is all but likely the Sixers will be eliminated over the next two games. However, hopefully it serves as a reminder to a Sixers front office that must improve this team’s depth.
Phillies Complete Sweep of Padres
The Phillies remain scorching hot this week with a sweep of the Padres. The series finale showcased featured the return of Tajuan Walker as well. Walker in his return threw 90 pitches in six innings, four strikeouts with six earned runs. Now with Walker back, it’ll be interesting to see how the Phillies starting rotation will shake out. According to Rob Thompson, SΓ‘nchez will start Monday, Spencer Turnbull on Tuesday, and Wheeler will start on Wednesday. He said the club will make a decision on where Turnbull will pitch after those starts. Turnbull has been pitching well for the Fightins so far this season. It’s hard say he hasn’t earned the right to be the club’s fifth starter this year.
