Flyers Take Game 1 in Pittsburgh
With goals from Jamie Drysdale, Travis Sanheim and Porter Martone, the Flyers took Game 1 of their first round, Stanley Cup Playoff matchup with the Penguins 3-2 on Saturday. Philadelphia carried play for a large stretch of the contest, frustrating Pittsburgh with a physical gameplan. Goaltender Dan Vladar made 15 saves in the win as well, including a huge one in close chance by Anthony Mantha with just seconds remaining in regulation.
Game 2 will take place at PPG Paints Arena Monday night. The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN and locally on NBCSP. Puckdrop is set for 7:00 p.m.
Sixers Crushed by Celtics 123-91 in Game 1
There’s no other way to put it other than Jayson Tatum and Jalen Brown gave the Sixers buckets in Philadelphia’s opening game of the playoffs. Tatum had 25 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists in his first matchup all season against the Sixers, while Brown added 26 points of his own. Neemias Queta picked up 13points for the C’s in the rout as well.
Game 2 is Tuesday night in Boston. You can watch that contest on NBCSP or stream live on Peacock. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
Phillies Swept by Braves
The Phillies skid has now reached five games, as Michael Harris II homered and had three hits to complete the three-game sweep on Sunday night.
Additionally, Ozzie Albies hit an RBI double in the game, while Austin Riley also drove in a run for the Braves. According to Aaron Bracy, this was Atlanta’s first series sweep of at least three games at Citizens Bank Ball Park in 10 years.
The Phils, who are now 8-13, have lost five straight games. This is their 10th loss in 13 games and their worst nine-game homestand in almost 17 years, according to Todd Zolecki.
Union Pick up First Clean Sheet in 0-0 Tie
Despite outshooting United 17-6, the Union couldn’t find the back of the cage resulting in a 0-0 draw Saturday night. Philadelphia did, however, register their first clean sheet of the season in the match.
Next up, the Union will head north to BMO Field on Wednesday, April 22nd, to face Toronto FC. The match is set for 7:30 p.m. and will broadcast on Apple TV.
