Eagles Hire Mannion, while Fangio to Retire?

On Thursday, the Eagles ended their search for an offensive coordinator, welcoming Green Bay Packers QB coach Sean Mannion. According to Adam Schefter, Mannion interviewed twice for the job and is expected to be calling the plays in 2026. Mannion also owns 11 years of NFL experience as both a former NFL Quarterback and as a coach. He was an accomplished collegiate player as well at Oregon State too. We’ll see how well his skill-set translates into a bigger role running an offense.

Speaking of coordinators, news leaked Sunday that the birds defensive coordinator Vic Fangio may be considering retirement, according to NBCSP’s John Clark. Philly Voice’s Jimmy Kempski believes that should Fangio retire, the Eagles will consider former defensive coordinators’ Jim Schwartz and Jonathan Gannon for the role.

All in all, losing Fangio would be a step back for the Eagles. His defensive units have been consistently strong for Philadelphia upon his arrival and having to replace another coordinator at this time would leave the team with few options.

However, during the ESPN Tip-Off show, Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny Smith, and Charles Barkley questioned the validity of the NBA’s policy if it were a substance that were to help with George’s mental health. They did speculate that could be the case.

Nevertheless, the suspension will cost George $11.7 million of his $51.7 million salary. Some of that forfeited money will turn into a credit and pull Philadelphia closer to getting out of the luxury tax, which could prove to beneficial to the Sixers should a trade option
