The Bird Sign Two, plus Open Practice day
The Eagles held their first open practice of the Summer on Sunday, but before they did, the team announced two new signings.
Linebackers Myles Jack and Zach Cunningham agreed to one-year deals with the club; and both could be considered low risk, potential high reward additions. Especially in the case of Jack. He’s had four seasons with more than 100 tackles, which include his last three campaigns. The 27-year-old was most recently with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
I’ve always been under the impression that there is no such thing as a bad one-year deal. These two veteran pieces certainly qualify as that and should add some needed depth at the linebacker position for the birds.
It never ceases to amaze me the crowd that one open practice could draw. If anyone ever needed a proper indication of why Philadelphia has been a destination for so many great athletes, it’s because of the below video. It just means more here.

Schwarber Snaps Cold Spell with Monster Day
Coming into the Phillies series finale with the lowly Royals, slugger Kyle Schwarber was amid a 0-for-19 slump. That all changed when Schwarber went 3-for-4 on Sunday with a Home Run and two singles. Bryce Harper (2-for-3) and Bryson Stott (1-for-4, HR) each chipped in as well. The win also helped the Phila leap into a tie for the first wildcard spot with the Giants as well. Up next for the Phils is a three-game set with the Nationals, starting on Monday at Citizens Bank Ballpark.

Union Top D.C, United in Penalty Kicks to Advance in Leagues Cup
Olivier Mbaizo helped the Union win a 16-round thriller to move on in leagues Cup play. They’ll host the New York Bulls on Monday at Subaru Park. With a win, the Union could advance to the Quarterfinals of the first-ever Leagues Cup.
Flyers Ink Ersson to Multi-Year Deal
The Flyers announced they have signed goaltender Samuel Ersson to a two-year, $2.9 million contract ($1.45 million AAV) this past Saturday. Ersson, 23, appeared in 12 games last season for the Flyers. Will he get more an opportunity to stick with the big club this season? Time will tell, but it has been widely reported that the organization is very high on the young Swede goalie.
