Phillies Split London Series With Mets
The Phillies and Mets completed a fun, two-game set in London this weekend as part of the MLB’s world tour.
In game one, Ranger Suárez became the season’s first 10-game winner to give the Phillies the 7-2 win over the Mets on Saturday. Bryce Harper got the club going with a six-run fourth inning that included Whit Merrifield’s three-run homer. Bryce only needed a triple for the cycle, but couldn’t quite finish it off.
The Fightins weren’t as successful in game two on Sunday. New York rallied from a 4-3 ninth-inning deficit against José Alvarado, who blew a save for the second time in 13 chances. All in all, it was an eventful weekend for both teams and a fun experience for fans to see their favorite teams in a nontraditional locale.
Report: Union Take Aim at Nicolás López
According to TerritorioEsmeralda, the Union are expecting to pursue Club León’s Nico Lopez. Lopez, 30, will sign his contract termination this week and review offers from others clubs. Affectionally known as “El Diente,” the Uruguayan forward has 6 goals and one assist in 29 matches this year in Liga MX.
The Union have had an up and down season to date and could certainly use another player to help shore up their attack. Perhaps Lopez can be that guy?
The next MLS transfer window is Thursday, July 18 to Wednesday, August 14.
Packers, Eagles Not to Wear Green in Brazil?
The Packers and Eagles will play in Brazil September 6th in the second NFL game of the season this year. However, will the teams be able to wear their colors?
According to recent Packers signee Josh Jacobs on Chris Long’s podcast, both teams were told to not wear green due to gang presence. It was also said by the running back that the club’s won’t be staying in the nicest area either.
I’m sure this type of thing will make it more difficult for the players to enjoy the experience. As far as uniforms go, what could either team do, as they primarily wear green?
