Flyers Gut Out Point in 2-1 loss in Seattle

In the second leg of back to back games, the Flyers pick up an important point in their 2-1 loss to the Kraken in Seattle. Let’s wrap on the contest:

Running on E

It can be a tough to coming out of week-long holiday break and jump into a back-to-back game situation. Suffice to say, the Flyers handled it well, but it was clear that the team was struggling to keep pace as the game wore on. In addition to the grueling schedule and travel, there also has been a reported illness making it’s way through the team as well that John Tortorella recently spoke about.

Three out of a possible four available standing points though? Hard to be upset with that in a tight Metropolitan division race.

History Makers

Congratulations go out to Sean Couturier and coach John Tortorella with both reaching impressive milestones on this road-trip. Couturier is skated in his 754th career game, surpassing Chris Therien for fifth place in franchise history, while Tortorella is became the eighth head coach in NHL history to coach in 1,500 regular-season games.

Did You Know?

Travis Konecny scored his fourth shorthanded goal of the season, a feat achieved by just two other Flyers players over the last decade – Kevin Hayes in 2019-20 and Matt Read in 2013-14. According to NHL stats, the last player with more in a season for Philadelphia was Mike Richards in 2008-09.

On Deck

The Flyers return to action on News Years Eve in Calgary when they take on the Flames, 8:00 pm puckdrop, EST.
