Blake, Union Battle Orlando City to 0-0 Draw

The Union returned to Subaru Park on Saturday night and battled Orlando City SC to a 0-0 draw in a physical match. Let’s wrap on matchday seven:

None Shall Pass

This scoreless match is thanks in large part to strong outings from both Andre Blake and Orlando’s Pedro Gallese. Both keepers came up with point-blank saves from prime real estate on the pitch, despite the Union outshooting Orlando 10-1 in the first half.

“We did so many things right tonight,” Bradley Carnell said. “The clean sheet is the reward, but we would have liked three points.”

In the second half, the Union fired ten more shots towards Gallese, but couldn’t find a way to solve the Peruvian goalkeeper.

Blake, on the other hand, made three saves to secure his 80th MLS shutout and his second of the 2025 season. Perhaps his best of the night you can see above, when he bails out Philadelphia after defender Jakob Glesnes misses his tackle creating a 2-on-1 run for Orlando City.

They Said It

Bradley Carnell on What Orlando Did to Frustrate the Union: “When every foul is a discussion and every ball is not placed at the final moment, we try to keep the momentum, the intensity. Our job here is not just to play a soccer game. I think all the fans pay a decent, fair price for the tickets and the tickets offer entertainment.”

Mikael Uhre on the Union’s Gameplan: “We knew what they were gonna do. They were gonna sit back, trying to hit us on the counter. If we put one away, it’s a completely different game.”

Bruno Damiani on the Match being a Draw: “I think if you see the match, you will clearly understand me that there was two points left here. We work hard, we play to win in the 90 minutes. We try always to play brave, play forward.”
