Big Tipper: Owen Tippett’s Overtime Blast Keeps Flyers Heater Alive

Owen Tippett picked up his 11th goal of the season and second career game winner, while goaltender Sam Ersson made 24 saves in yet another Flyers win. The orange and black are now 3-3-2 in their last 18 games played this season. Let’s wrap:

Poehling’s Big Night

Bottom Sixer Ryan Poehling picked himself up two goals in this one on some great passes from Joel Farabee and Travis Konecny. Poehling, who has become a favorite of the coaching staff for his tenacity, has stepped up admirably in a pinch to help replace what the club lost with the Noah Cates injury. On this night is he was the goal scorer, despite not being known as much as a scoring threat.

Farabee Needs More Ice-Time

Speaking of Joel Farabee, he’s been dominating at even strength for the Flyers this season. However, Farabee has not gotten any powerplay time to this point which, to me, is odd considering how putrid the Flyers powerplay has been this season. Perhaps Farabee can carry over some of his impressive five-on-five play into the man advantage this season?

The Playoff Watch

According to MoneyPuck, Philly’s win in New Jersey now pushes their playoff hopes to 65.3 percent odds to make the post-season.

Did you Know?

According to NHL stash, this game was the Flyers’ sixth win past regulation this season, which trails only the Canadiens (8) and Maple Leafs (7) for the most among all teams this season.

On Deck

Philadelphia returns to action on Thursday, when they play host to the Nashville Predators.
