Ramos Roundup Part 43: We Got Him!

The Ramos roundup is a weekly Philadelphia Sports column highlighting all the pertinent news of the week featuring the Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, Sixers, and Union.

Flyers Top Prospect Matevi Michkov Heading to Philadelphia

According to Hockey News Hub and Anthony Di Marco, the Flyers are expected to have 2023 first round pick Matevi Michkov for the 2024-2025 season. Rumors have circulated since January that the Russian wunderkind could potentially join Philly early, but there was no real guarantee. Now, Michkov appears on track to don orange and black this season which would have been unthinkable this time last year.

Michkov, 19, posted 19 goals and 22 assists for 41 points in 47 games for HK Sochi after being loaned out by SKA St. Petersburg.

Props to Danny Briere and the Flyers brass on this piece of business. It is undoubtedly a coup.

Report: Kyle Lowry Will Return to Sixers

According to Marc Stein, are expected to re-sign veteran guard and hometown kid Kyle Lowry for next season. Lowry, 38, averaged averaged 8.0 points, 4.6 assists and 2.8 rebounds in 23 games in Philly. The Sixers are expected to be rather business this summer in adding a third star player with Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid and have $60 million dollars in cap space to do so.

Most recently, word has circulated that the Sixers may have some interest in trading for Pelicans wing Brandon Ingram, Miles Bridges, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope once free agency begins.

NBA off-season gets underway with the NBA Draft on Wednesday. Free agency will open on June 30th.

Phillies Extend Sanchez, Take Two-of-Three Against Diamondbacks

The Phillies locked up another one of their pitchers this week when Christopher Sanchez was extended for four years. Sanchez has been excellent this season, posting a 2.91 ERA. His terms on the deal are as followed, according to The Associated Press:

$22.5 million, four-year contract covering 2025-28.

2025: $1.5 Million
2026: $3.0 Million
2027: $6.0 Million
2028: $9.0 Million

The options can escalate to $16 million for 2029 and $19 million for 2030 based on top 10 finishes in Cy Young Award voting.

Further, Sanchez twirled a gem throwing seven scoreless innings and allowing just three singles in Sunday’s game against the Diamondbacks.
