Four different players potted goals and the Flyers keep on rolling. Let’s wrap:
Tippett Scores Game-Winning Beauty
Along with Farabee, Poehling and Laughton, Owen Tippett scored to give the Flyers their third straight win. However, Owen Tippett’s goal was one of particular mastery. After Travis Konecny hit the linesmen with his dump-in attempt, the puck ricocheted to Tippett who hit the Blues line speed. The Flyers forward then danced around defender Justin Faulk before beating goaltender Joel Hofer for the tally on the back-hand.
Tippett now has four goals in his last five games and is displaying all the ability that makes him a tantalizing player. At times, he can be a frustrating player and leaving you to want more, but when he’s scoring like this, he can be a handful for opposing defenses.
Carter Hart Strong with 28 Saves
Carter Hart ended his night with 28 saves on 30 shots and looked rock solid doing so. Lately, with the impressive hot streak Sam Ersson has been on, it has felt that the Hart’s game has left a little to be desired. Let’s not kid ourselves here though, the Flyers are very much in an enviable position with their goaltending. They have the ability to run a 1A/1B type of tandem in goal. Both players success is a big reason why the Flyers are competing for a divisional crown right now.
Let’s not jump ahead and choose one over the other. It’s a luxury for a team that plans to compete to feel comfortable with both players in goal.
Did You Know?
Since being traded from Philadelphia to St. Louis in 2017, Brayden Schenn has led all Blues players in goals (140), assists (222) and points (362), according to NHL stats.
