The Eagles Just Keep On Rolling

The Eagles are officially 4-0 for the first time since 2004, and man I cannot be happier. In Doug Pederson’s “return to Philly” game, even MORE doubters were proven wrong. The Jaguars were considered another good team after beating up on the “contending” Los Angeles Chargers 38-10. And in typical fashion, the Jaguars are once again “mid”, according to all other fans. But don’t let that get to us too much, as the Eagles stay the only undefeated team in the NFL.

Unlike others, I will say that this game did not help Jalen Hurts’ MVP conversation. It was a sloppy game on both sides, sure, but the voters will not take that into account. I think that his pass that was intercepted and later returned to a pick six could have been better. Their slow 0-14 start could hurt them in more competitive games against contending teams. Those teams won’t let up the lead that easily as the Jaguars ended up doing.

However, I do think that Jalen Hurts and the Eagles did show resilience in their comeback. They weren’t fazed, facing a 14-0 deficit. The best running game last year was able to hit their stride in weather where they needed to the most. The Eagles can attack you on all cylinders now, and even on the defensive side as well. The defense came away with five turnovers. Four of those came from Trevor Lawrence fumbles, and the other one was an interception by James Bradberry, one of the studs that signed with the Eagles in free agency. Hurts’ passing was elite, everyone was taking accountability and responding in a good way.

My key player this week is Miles Sanders, who went OFF in a game where running the ball was important. 27 carries on 134 yards, 2 touchdowns AND 2 catches for 22 yards. He was still good last year despite not recording a touchdown, and now his breakout performance of this year really helped keep the Eagles in stride and helped ensure a win.

The Eagles have a date at Arizona on October 9th at 4:25PM (EST), as Zach Ertz faces off against his old team. The Cardinals are coming off a solid win against the Carolina Panthers. That wasn’t a difficult win by any means, but not something to overlook. The Cardinals are 2-2 on the season. They will still be without DeAndre Hopkins, who is serving a suspension. I won’t give out a prediction, but I’m excited to see the Eagles up against another team who are considered to be a contending team, and I’m excited to continue to see the Eagles grow as we head deeper into the season.

Thank you for reading and as always, Go Birds!
