49ers Send Eagles Packing in Wilcard Round 23-19

Brock Purdy threw a go-ahead 6-yard touchdown pass to Christian McCaffrey late in the fourth quarter en route to the San Francisco 49ers defeating the Eagles thus ending Philadelphia’s season on Sunday. The birds were again plagued by the same issues that plagued them all season; the Eagles failed not only to build off a 13-10 at halftime, but only could muster 36 total yards in the third quarter. Additionally, they were outscored 13-3 in the second half overall.

According to Eagles reporter Jeff Kerr, Philadelphia averaged 9.5 offensive points-per-game in the 2nd half of games this season. Moreover, the birds also suffered some key dropped passes from AJ Brown and Devonta Smith in this game as well.

All in all, it’s been a season of ups and downs for the Eagles. Tough decisions loom for the team, such as what will happen with offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo. We’ll continue to follow the Eagles off-season plans into the spring and summer. Stay tuned.

Sixers Topped by Raptors in Overtime 116-115

In the first leg of a back-to-back with Toronto, the Sixers fell short by just a point on Sunday evening. Scottie Barnes hit the game-winning free throw with less than a second to go. The Sixers, on the other hand, were paced again by Tyrese Maxey, who dropped 38 points and added five assists in the loss.

Union Ink Alejandro Bedoya To New Contract

On Thursday, the Union announced that they agreed to a new contract with Alejandro Bedoya, keeping him with the club through 2026.

Bedoya, 38, joined the Union in 2016 as a Designated Player from Ligue 1 side Nantes. Since then, he has produced 25 goals and 40 assists across 268 MLS appearances, including 226 starts. He is also the Philadelphia’s all-time leader in MLS matches played. He ranks third in team history in assists (40), second in shots (280), and is one of only three players in club history to reach at least 25 goals and 25 assists.
