Flyers ink Tanner Laczynski to two year contract

The Flyers announced today they have signed forward Tanner Laczynski to a two-year, two-way contract, according to Chuck Fletcher.

Laczynski, now 25, appeared in one game with the Flyers at the end of the 2021-22 season. He posted seven goals and 10 assists for 17 points in 28 games in Lehigh Valley for the Phantoms. Laczynski is expected to compete for a bottom six role with the club in training camp in September. Hopefully, he can continue to stay healthy.

Following a successful collegiate career at Ohio State, Laczynski has struggled to stay on the ice at the pro level. In 2021, the club announced that he needed hip surgery. This news came after the 25-year-old also needed surgery to repair a torn labrum in April, cutting his 2020 campaign short.

The Shorewood, Illinois native now joins Morgan Frost and Issac Radcliffe as some of the team’s recent in-house signees. The deal, like the others, is cost effective for the cap-strapped Flyers and operates as a ‘prove it’ type of deal for Laczynski.

Speaking of injuries, Flyers’ prospect Bobby Brink recently underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left hip, according to the team. He’s expected to be out for five months.

Zack MacEwen has filed for salary arbitration, according to the NHLPA. The hearing will take place some time between July 27 and August 11 for the Flyers and their bruising right winger.
